Tea gardens are private commercial land worked by real families, so stick to the marked paths and ask before photographing pickers up close — most are happy to say yes if you ask first.

Early morning (before 8am) is when the gardens are quietest and the light is best for photos, well before the afternoon plucking crews arrive.
